17th September 2026 — Bangkok, Thailand
Four Nights in Bangkok and the world's our oyster
And so it begins. We'd found a decent-priced flight via Vienna with Austrian Airlines, and honestly, what's not to like about spending a few days unwinding in Bangkok before the main event? We've been here a few times before, but it felt like the obvious place to ease ourselves back into travelling.
We'd discovered Focal Local a few years back, a fabulous little guesthouse on the north side of the river in a quiet neighbourhood, and we keep coming back to it. Simple, calm, comfortable and a proper good breakfast. In fact. it now feels a bit like coming home.

September in Thailand means monsoon, which in practice means it's pretty hot and super humid. We weren't complaining, though, it's the kind of weather suited to meandering, , a massage, a few good cocktails, and, of course, lots of good food.

A few days here turned out to be exactly what the doctor ordered. And now we're absolutely ready to hit the road again.
