Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Yearaway (yearaway.com) is a personal travel diary published by Nathan Cope. This page explains what information the website and its companion app handle.
Visitors to the website
Yearaway does not ask visitors to create an account, and it does not use advertising, analytics trackers, or cookies for tracking. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which may process standard technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and secure the site.
Content published on the site
Trip entries, text, photos and videos shown on Yearaway are created and published by the site owner. They are public.
Google user data
The site owner's private editor connects to Google Photos using the Google Photos Picker API so that the owner can choose photos and videos from their own Google Photos library to attach to a diary entry. Access is limited to the items the owner explicitly selects in the Google picker.
- Only the owner's own Google account is connected. Visitors are never asked to sign in to Google.
- Selected photos and videos are copied to Yearaway's own storage so they can be displayed on the entry they were added to.
- Google user data is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
- Yearaway's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Where data is stored
Entries and media are stored with Cloudflare (D1 database and R2 storage). Text transcription and drafting use an AI service (Anthropic) to process the owner's own recordings and notes when creating entries.
Removing content
If you appear in a photo or entry and would like it removed, contact the site owner using the details on yearaway.com and it will be taken down.
