The City of Springs

We arrived in Jinan by train, rolling into this ancient city known for its hundreds of natural springs that bubble up from the earth beneath the streets. The train journey had been long but smooth, and stepping out onto the platform, I could feel the weight of history pressing down on this place—a city that has relied on water for thousands of years.

The spring water is everywhere here, threading through the city's veins like liquid heritage. I wandered through streets where locals paused at public fountains to fill bottles, where the water was so clear and cold it felt timeless. This is what the city is built on, what defines it: not monuments or walls, but the simple miracle of water rising from below, constant and life-giving.
